First contact – how to make a ‘cold pitch’ to an investor

This is the first contact you'll make - so make it count!

It's tempting to fire off numerous random messages, but take the time to chat yours - make it short and personal. You'll find out how in this video.

In this chapter;

  1. Video: how to make a first contact 'cold pitch'
  2. Useful links and resources (after the video)

Three Takeaways from this video

  1. Brevity, and Focus son the Goal are the way to cut through the noise. This video focuses on keeping it short.
  2. Try out the five sentence email template from Guy Kawasaki - it helps you focus your communication down to the key messages, and to making it relevant to the person you are approaching.
  3. Make it personal! Use their first name; quickly reference something they recently posted, or tell them you loved their presentation at a recent event; and if you met them before, even briefly, mention that.

Below is an extract from my book Blue Moon Pitch, which includes an example of the 5-Sentence email in action.
